Delivery to our client's customers throughout Japan AM next day from one distribution center. We integrated existing 4 warehouses into one, Sankyu Warehouse location near the client's plant. Sankyu designed a revised delivery scheme, ensuring a next day AM delivery. Handy terminals and digital picking systems were introduced for operational efficiency and accuracy.
We successfully implemented a single distribution center system for the first time in Japanese cosmetics industry. Inventory was reduced by 30%, while stock-out rates declined to one tenth of previous levels. Service levels for our client's customers went up. Our client is very pleased with the solution provided by Sankyu.

International 3PL for Electronic Components
Sankyu's international 3PL service reduced lead time and cost, by extensively using our proprietary information technology.
Our Client's Challenges
The lead time from order placement to delivery was extended as plants were relocated to Dalian and other Asian cities. Warehousing in/out and inspection of more than 2,000 items were manually managed. Up to date inventory information was not available and subsequently inventory tended to be excessive for fear of line stoppage due to inventory depletion.

Sankyu consolidated all parts and components from our client and their vendors at Sankyu's Moji Warehouse. Data of items to be shipped is sent to us in advance via EDI. Bar codes are scanned upon receipt and prior to shipping, updating our database. Our client's plant in Dalian operates with "zero" inventory thanks to our JIT delivery from nearby bonded area.
Operation at our warehouse has become very efficient and free from errors with the implementation of bar code scanning. Our information technology makes the instant inventory status of parts and components visible. Lead time and cost were significantly reduced. Regular monitoring and review allows Sankyu to continue efforts to achieve further improvement and innovation.
